ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrival, Reykjavík and the blue lagoon
A private driver will wait for you by the arrival gates at KEF Airport upon arrival and take you to your Reykjavík accommodation. En route to your accommodation, enjoy a delightful detour to the iconic Blue Lagoon. Your driver will patiently wait as you luxuriate in the rejuvenating mineral-rich waters of the lagoon. Once in Reykjavík, spend the day getting to know our favorite little city. Albeit small, there are a lot of interesting things to see and do, as well as some incredible restaurants to try. Have a read through our Reykjavík City Guide where we’ve outlined some of our favorite places, covering everything from transportation in the city to sights, activities, and restaurants.
Day 2
South costal highlights and a geothermal exhibition
Our guide will pick you up from your Reykjavík accommodation to embark on our adventure to explore the entire south coast of Iceland. We will start off the day by making our way to a Geothermal Exhibition. Here you will learn first hand how green, sustainable energy is produced at one of the largest single-site geothermal power plant on the planet, Hellisheiði ON Power plant. Also very interesting is the Carbfix-dedicated showroom. Carbfix is a company that provides a natural and permanent storage solution by turning CO2 into stone underground in less than two years. Then we will visit Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls before we continue our drive further east where we’ll soon start to see the spectacular glaciers and Iceland's highest mountains until we come into our accommodation for the night.
Day 3
Glacier adventures within vatnajökull national park
After a good night's rest we set off on another amazing day. We make our way to do the glacier hike on Falljökull glacier. We are heading onto the glacier to hike all the way up to the astonishing ice fall of the glacier exploring the glacier textures, features and walk on the bottom of its crevasses. It's truly a unique experience. For more information read our Glacier Hike Guide. Once we come off the ice we head to one of our favorite sights in Iceland. Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon will be sure to leave you in awe, with its icebergs floating around this enormous lagoon, and washing up on the black sand shores of Diamond Beach. It is often possible to spot seals swimming between and resting on the icebergs, so keep an eye out. Your guide will be able to tell you some more facts about the Glacier Lagoon, the Glacier, and the impact of Climate Change.
Day 4
South coast sights, horseback riding and a farm visit
After a couple of days filled with big adventures, it’s time to slow the pace down and have a more relaxed day. We take our time as we travel back west along the south coast, stopping at more of our favorite south coast spots. We'll start with an easy hike along the feather-like ridges of the canyon with the impossible-to-pronounce name; Fjaðrárfljúfur. By the time we reach Vík it’s time for lunch in this picturesque town. Then we will be taking a walk to the front of the Sólheimajökull glacier and do a 30-minute valley walk on a maintained trail.

This gives you great views of the glacier and you would be able to go down to the lagoon which offers a different and stunning perspective of this nature highlight. Additionally, your guide will be able to educate you more about the influence of Climate Change on the glaciers and landscapes in Iceland and see it first hand. Afterward, we make our way to our next adventure, which is a Horseback riding tour and a farm visit. At this time of the year, the lambing season also started, so we will get some more insight of this yearly happening. In the early evening, we will make our way to tonight's accommodation.
Day 5
Thórsmörk highlands super jeep day tour expand
Today we truly go off the beaten track going into Þórsmörk in the highlands one one of our partners customised super jeeps that enables us to cross deep glacial rivers and handle nearly any terrain. On the way, we head all the way up to a viewpoint over Gígjökull, one of the outlet glaciers of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Here, you will get an idea of the forces that were at play during the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull. Next stop, we will explore Stakkholtsgjá canyon, a beautiful natural wonder. After our walk in the canyon, we make our way deep into Þórsmörk, a nature reserve in the southern Icelandic Highlands, nestled between the Mýrdalsjökull, Eyjafjallajökull and Tindfjallajökull glaciers. You have the opportunity to enjoy the amazing landscape and take nice short hikes around the area, and really take in the beautiful, unspoiled nature of Iceland. During the drive and the hiking in this area, your expert guide will tell you some more about the changing landscapes in this region.
Day 6
The golden circle, Fridheimar tomato greenhouse & fontana bakery visit
Once we’ve checked out of our accommodation this morning we make our way to see the famous sights within the Golden Circle. We make our way to the Friðheimar Tomato Greenhouse where we have a delicious early lunch right amongst all the plants in the tomato greenhouse. It's a truly unique experience and gives you the opportunity to learn more about sustainable food production! The mighty Gullfoss waterfall, the erupting geysers and geothermal area of Geysir. Then, we will make our way to Laugarvatn Fontana Spa and Bakery, where we will get an insight into the geothermal bakery. After the informative walk and entertaining demonstration, everyone is invited to sample the freshly baked bread. We end the day at one of the most historic and stunning sights in Iceland. Þingvellir National Park, where the tectonic plates are pulling apart, is also the site of the first parliament here in Iceland just after settlement. From here it's only a short drive to Reykjavík, just in time for dinner in the city.
Day 7
Lava tunnels + departure day
Today we will explore Iceland's scenic southwestern region. Commence with an exploration of The Lava Tunnel, one of the longest lava caves in Iceland where you explore the inner workings of a volcanic eruption, following the path that the lava flowed during the Leitahraun eruption 5,200 years ago. Then, a private driver will pick you up to transfer you to KEF Airport for your outbound flight, the airport is only a short drive away.
