Meet Thanya, a gentle force of nature with a deep love for her homeland and a gift for helping others see its quiet beauty.
Born in 1983 in Buriram, a rural province in Thailand’s northeastern Isaan region, Thanya grew up surrounded by rice fields, water buffalo, and the steady rhythm of temple life. Her childhood was modest but full of joy, rooted in family, community, and tradition.
After completing a degree in Business Administration, specialising in Innovative Tourism and Hospitality, Thanya moved to Germany with her young son, Chad. They spent nearly four years there, years of growth and challenge that shaped her perspective on the world. Returning to Thailand brought its own trials, but slowly and steadily, she found her footing again, this time by building something of her own.
She began with Khamsri Travel, leading small tours to her beloved hometown of Buriram. Then, in October 2021—mid-pandemic—she made another bold leap, moving to Abu Dhabi to introduce her home region to a new audience in the Gulf. It was there she met her husband, Robert Hermans, and together, they created Rotha Thai Travel Tours.
Their offering is intimate and rare: immersive five-day journeys for just four to six guests at a time. These trips go far beyond sightseeing. They’re an invitation into the true essence of rural Thai life—where elephants wander freely through the village, monks share quiet meals and conversations, and the landscape stretches into rice paddies, mango orchards, and temple-dotted hills.
With Thanya as your guide, you’ll encounter a side of Thailand few ever see: ancient Khmer and Buddhist ruins, shimmering lakes alive with bird song, night markets buzzing with life, and a rich cultural mosaic of Thai, Lao, and Khmer heritage. It’s a place of peace, depth, and connection—where time slows, and perspective shifts.
For Thanya, this is more than travel. It’s her way of sharing the spirit of her homeland: its history, hospitality, and deep, grounding wisdom. And for those who join her, it’s often a journey that stays with them long after they leave.
