overview

Rwanda is a country in East Africa with one of the most remarkable stories of hope and transformation by becoming Africa’s safest and most forward-thinking travel destination, given its incredibly turbulent past. Its pristine rolling hills and lush tropical jungles have become a haven for many of Africa’s primates, including large populations of chimpanzees and more than half of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas.

Gorilla trekking expeditions through Volcanoes National Park have become an extremely popular safari experience, often delivering unforgettable and incredibly intimate encounters with these spectacular animals. Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali, is also an incredible place to visit, home to a fascinating and incredibly warm, friendly and welcoming local culture as well as a wide range of uniquely Rwandan activities. For this eight-day trip with our Remarkable Transformer, Archie Rutherford, prepare to journey deep into Africa and experience the captivating and stunningly gorgeous mountains and jungles of Rwanda – one of the world’s most unspoiled locations, as well as the home of some of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas.

You will spend two nights in Kigali, the vibrant and fascinating capital city sprawled out over Rwanda’s rolling hills, ridgelines and valleys – the perfect place to start your expedition. Following this, you will have two nights at Nyungwe Forest, the heart of the jungle, where captivating wildlife and dramatic mountain landscapes blanketed with greenery await you. You will spend one night taking in the picturesque panoramic views and enjoying the peace and serenity of the iconic Lake Kivu. Then, it’s off to Volcanoes National Park for three nights, where you will set out in search of unforgettable gorilla encounters under the lush jungle canopies. Your last three nights will be spent at Akagera National Park for an authentic East Africa-style safari.

This Rwanda Safari will show you Africa in ways you never believed possible and allow you to immerse yourself in one of the most breathtaking locations on the African continent. Experience the rich history, interesting culture, and one-of-a-kind fauna and landscape of this time-lost region. All of this while being cared for and guided by experts and staying in exclusive and fine hotels and lodges. This is Rwanda, as you’ve never seen it.
